Judging - WGSDCA

I was honored to be asked to judge such a quality filled show. The WGSD breeders are doing a wonderful job! Great temperament, flowing movement, clean coming & going without loosing reach & drive and solid, sloping toplines... I almost brought home a WGSD puppy!

I must be way out of touch -- when I was showing GDSs back in the 70's white was a disqualifying fault. What has happened? I must say the dog in your photo is structurally more like a German Shepherd Dog and less like a preying mantis.

They are AKC registered, still an AKC DQ but these dedicated enthusiasts started their own club!

They are also eligible to show in UKC.

We have a large showing of whites up here in Minnesota, and they have some really wonderful dogs. If I could have as many dogs as I wanted I would certainly have a white.

I'm very impressed with the soundness of teh WGSDs I've met, although the temperaments seem softer and sweeter to me (which I like but am not entirely sure is totally correct, LOL - you know I love mushy shepherds. :P) Such nice, unextreme dogs!

I confess, I love the white GSDs, esp LCs... I've been reamed by a few GSD people for stating that, including being chewed out for even MAKING a white GSD pin, and ornament design in my artwork! (People can be so petty)

I've been so proud of the white GSD people for breeding for sound moving, functional-type. Just 15 years ago, type was really poor, and it's been progressing from simply breeders breeding for color/cash crop, to breeders seriously breeding, for sound, healthy dogs. Personally, I think a lot of the AKC show GSD people could learn a thing, or 30... whoops, did I say that? *VBG*

I'm glad you had fun judging! Thanks for showing off! I wish we had more white GSDs here on the west coast, but then I'm sure I'd bring one home from a show ;) hehe

I have had 2 GSDs in my life. One was a girl named Schatzi when I was growing up and then when the dog we had before we got our 1st Cardigan was Freya, a WGSD. Both of them are missed. They were wonderful girls.

Looks like you had a blast. Thanks for sharing.
