A good day for Troy

For those of you who know my sweet boy also know he is "special"... in a "Troy Special" kind of way. Troy is afraid of children, hates pavement and basically is very happy to be a homebody. For the record, I am not his breeder and he is neutered. Troy has been placed twice, and returned twice. He seems to hate anyplace but our home. And here he is very, very happy and sweet. He is "special" and we adore him.

Troy does like going for car rides, as long as he stays in the car and comes home. He is very happy that way.

Tonight I met Leonard for dinner at the truck stop while he was passing through and Troy, Roxy & Sabrina came along. After dinner, Leonard had to give me something out of his truck and I went to take a dog with me to walk across the parking lot. Troy wanted to go! So I put him on a leash, and walked him with Roxy across the parking lot! He was HAPPY! This may seem as no big deal for 99.9% of the dogs out there, but if you know Troy you know that this is a big deal. Walking back there was another driver heading to the building at the same time and Troy was more hurried to get back to the car, but all in all he handled the excursion very well.

I am so proud of him!

Bathroom Renovations - the results of the week!

Greenboard comes in purple, not green. Who would have thunk? Anyway, I love my new vanity set!
The surround is not complete, but the whirlpool tub definitely works! Yeah!

All plumbed and insulated. I can wait for walls.

Here you can see how Leonard raised the ceiling height. Over the (new, replaced) window is the original ceiling height and how it will jut up in the center of the room.

Leonard did great! He will finish on the weekends. For now it is usable and so much better than what we had before! And now I have to clean the lens on the camera.

Bathroom Renovations - Progress!

Leonard has finished the framing, plumbing & most of the wiring. The tub & shower are installed and working! The dog bathtub in the backroom did well for a few days for keeping clean. At least it was hot & cold running water. Now we can carefully take a shower or bath, since the surround is not done, but it works!

Off to buy "greenboard" and cement board.

Kipper - an adorable rescue in need of a forever home

This is one ADORABLE, happy little guy who is a handful of dog! He is combination, maybe Pem/Cardi/Cattle Dog? mix, and only 20 pounds. I have met him and I adore him. He needs an experienced dog owner. You can view his webpage and here is his video link.

We need to find this guy a home where he can be loved and adored for the ball of fire he is.

Bathroom Renovation - Day 3

Cait - just for you... the cremains of the paneling. It will never haunt another home again.
And a truck load of new goodies! Doors, vanity/mirror/light bar, tub...

And in-house building inspectors give their paw of approval.

SIDE NOTE - if you can spare a good thought or two for our cat, China, I would be very grateful. She has not been seen today and could just have found a very nice niche to hide in with all the commotion, but I certainly miss her! Our house has been turned upside down and all normal kitty spaces have been uprooted. All precautions for the indoor kitties have been made and followed, so we really don't think she snuck out. I am praying she comes to me soon.

Bathroom Renovation - Day 2

Yuck. Under the bath surround was very yucky. No wonder I have allergies.

Then came the next "layer". Yes, the bath & entry were added on to the existing structure, but they left the original "camp"siding on. *sigh* Leonard also found a 1959 penny in the wall!

Under the siding was gorgeous pine! We saved it.

The wall is gone!
And from the opposite direction. The new wall will be built tomorrow.

Bath Renovation - Day 1

This was our bathroom as of this morning. It was small, with the tub/shower to the left of the window.
The previous owners didn't even have the medicine cabinet set in the wall.
Leonard started by tearing up the wall in our walk-in closet. He is making the closet smaller and the bathroom bigger.
Goodbye horrid paneling!!! Phew! The commode & shower are all that remains of the original bathroom.

Good girl, Roxy!

Roxy went to the shelter's vet today for a dental, bloodwork & chest x-ray. Everything is fine, especially now that she is 13, not 12. Bloodwork normal, slightly enlarged heart (nothing to worry about), and worn down teeth. Pretty good news for an old dog with a shady history of vet care. (The neighbor had her spayed in 2007 at the age of 10).

She is such a happy dog and I am so glad we have her. She still has a lot of sparkle in her so I hiope we have her for several years to come.

Atlantic City & Roxy

Sunday & Monday we spent at Atlantic City.

The ocean was beautiful, though the beach and boardwalk were covered in trash. It was sad to see.
My favorite store in the casino was Jake's Dog House. They had great prices for their location!
There we bought this new magnet for Ellie.
Roxy came home today! As you can see, she made herself right at home. She is snoring on the sofa while I type this.

The shelter was calling her an Australian Shepherd mix. I really don't see that. Her coat is like a Labrador's coat and she is the size of a Dal, with a few small black spots scattered about. So we are guessing Lab x Dal. Any other ideas?

Later I will get photos of the back of her ears. They match Luther's ears.

She goes to the shelter's vet on Thursday for a dental, bloodwork & chest x-ray. They are worried about a heart murmur. Hopefully it is nothing serious. No matter what, she has a home for her golden years.

Happy Birthday Luther and sibblings!

So hard to believe that 4 years have gone by. Luther did get to go to one of his favorite pet stores and get loads of attention. Leonard conveniently happened to make a delivery across the street from Pet Edge yesterday so he stopped in the outlet store. Luther must wait until tomorrow to get his new toys.

I truly believe with all my heart that Demi came back to me in Zsa Zsa. The emptiness is gone. No more sorrow. I gave her a bath today and she was so sweet and good... giving me loads of kisses.

Life is good.

Roxy

She comes home on Tuesday. She is a 12 year old mix, that was an owner-surrender (health issues) to an area shelter. Luther thinks she's swell! She is so sweet... she just leaned into me, melding herself, for love and attention. I have no idea what mix she is but she sure is cute.

Decisions, decisions...

The tile has been chosen.

It is no secret that I (we) hate our bathroom. We have since the moment we first viewed our house. Better late than never, seven years later and we are now renovating!

I hate making decisions! Finding the right tile was a tough one but now finished.

The mosaic will cover the tub surround, with the 6"x6" being the shower area, broken up by a line of the mosaic (2 rows) . The mosaic will also become the sink backsplash. A new (whirlpool) tub, honey maple vanity, medicine cabinet & light bar are also ordered. The bathroom will be expanded into our closet and a book shelf and sitting bench will be built by my DH. I am so blessed to have married such a wonderful (and handy) man!

Now to pick the grout color and paint...
