New food again...

For over a month, Emma has had urinary issues with high pH and struvite crystals. Doing loads of research and not wanting the option of Rx foods, I have switched Miss Em to a dehydrated raw food, with added meat protein and loads of water to flush the crystals out of her system. The vitamin c and cranberry supplements had not worked, so she was placed on an Rx acidifier.

The good news is that this regimen is working!!

I have been very pleased with The Honest Kitchen for providing a balanced, ready-made, non-frozen raw option! Topped with Evangers canned and we are good to go.

Holly,
My Jasmine also suffers from the occasional Urinary crystals. Being that she did not do well on the urinary diets, I opted for a Medical intervention. I get Methionine( brand name Methioform-beef flavored) compounded , without flavoring, at a local pharmacy for the control of her crystals. She gets her dose in her breakfast as needed to control her episodes. Being that I"m a vet tech I chose to check her urine for high PH and crystals on a weekly basis via dipstick tests and adjust her medicine as needed. Just a thought. Food choices can sometimes help enough but stress brings on crystals, too much grain can bring on crystals and well they can get crystals just cause they feel like it. Silly dogs. If you ever want any more information I'd be glad to help as I have done tons of research to figure out what works best for my Jasmine.

I like the honest kitchen food, too. My dogs seem to do well on it, and it's easy to transport when traveling or taking a dog to rehab for a week!

Glad to hear you found a solution! I just started using Honest Kitchen as a 'topper' for the Taste of the Wild kibble and the dogs LOVE it!
