Six words

Patricia McConnell recently lost one of her dogs, Lassie, and wrote an interesting blog post about author Earnest Hemingway challenging his friends to write a story in 6 words. She then challenged her readers to write a 6 word story about their dog.

I will describe all of mine.

Sabrina: Her Royal Highness, the Crown Princess

Luther: Court Jester. Loves sheep. Goofy. Smart.

Snickers: Sweet as sugar. Snuggles. Overlooked beauty.

Zsa Zsa: Devil with a blue dress on.

Magnet: Pet me. Pet me again. Now!

Emma: Daddy's girl. Rub my belly. Again.

Troy: Cat like. Home body. Love bug.

Another STAR

Olivia is a *star* on Animal Planet! She was used as a comparison to differentiate the Pembroke from the Cardigan. You can watch the Pembroke video clip from this link: http://animal.discovery.com/videos/dogs-101-season-one/ Olivia starts at time 2:12.

Hip Hip Hooray! And other updates.

Magnet is OVC Certified for Normal Hips. Certificate No 0041903. He is not in the database yet but my vet gave me the faxed results. ** Happy Dance ** I will be submitting them to OFA so they will be in the most widely searched database.

I also spent the morning doing much needed updates to my website. The performance stars page, Olivia & Honor-Bug's pages are also now up to date. As well as adding Magnet's health clearances, of course!

Puppy Flash Back

Hey Katrin that is Baby Monty up front with Uncle Tristan babysitting! At less than a week old in this photo, Tristan has always adored the newborns. He would take it upon himself to be their guardian. And my mums would always let Tristan and the rest of the pack see the babies. When we lost Demi and came home with the basket full of orphans, he and Sabrina took care of pottying pups after we bottle fed. And how upset Tristan was when I brought the orphans to the foster mum and came home empty handed!

What a great dog he is. And he is enjoying his "harem" and being the sole male dog of his new home.

A Mini Get-Away Planned

Our travel agent had the perfect mini get-away package... an overnight in Atlantic City! Since Las Vegas is our ultimate "get me away from reality" destination and not on the calendar this year, I am sure we will have our much needed break from reality here. Our package is booked & Leonard has the time off. Then we can just sit back & relax!

Skydiving Nanny!

My dear friend in TN has a mother who lives life to the fullest! We were at the air strip for her jump on her 90th birthday, but unfortunately missed the jump on her 95th birthday.

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs

I needed a break from reality and a fun, light-hearted movie was a good idea. I rented this last night and I must say it made me smile.

A weekend not to remember.

We lost the last pup. Emma has been very sad. We borrowed a snuggle puppy for her. Hopefully her heart will mend quicker than ours.

Puppy!

Meet our new addition! Luther & Emma's daughter, whelped 1/8/2010

Emma is a fabulous mother. One of the best I have had, and I have not had a bad mum...

I must say that Emma had a textbook whelping. The normal prelabor stuff for 24 hours, she started third stage labor at 4:00am, water broke at 6:00am, first pup born at 6:55am, second at 9:00am and third at 9:20am. It was an easy delivery for her and for that I am so, so thankful.

I am posting photos of the angel pups to document markings sired by Luther. Not one was as flashy as he is, let alone a mismark.

The calm before the storm?

Emma taking her after dinner nap. Day 59.

Web Cam

Welcome to my home. This is your invitation to join us for the whelping and rearing of our litter of pups.

I have my webcam hosted with Mare Stare. You get wonderful service for the small fee you pay. For now the cam is on from 9am - 9pm daily. When Emma goes into labor, we will have it on 24/7.

We have an active thread on the Mare Stare forum for Emma. While there, look around! It is a wonderful community! Watch some of the cams. Open up the Barn Alarm which will alert you when a mum-to-be in labor. Send good thoughts for the new arrivals and pray for those who need His help. Most of all, have fun!

X-ray

Three puppies for Emma.In this view, tibias, fibias & paws are visible. By this indication, whelping *should* be within 48 hours. We'll see how that theory goes!

Belly Photo

Not the most lady like of photo ops, but with Auntie Katrin loving on the Emma Lou, we were able to snap this photo.

Cast your vote for how many puppies!

Emma's due date is fast approaching so Katrin has decided we should do what could be a fun poll to see how many puppies people think she is carrying. (see the top of the blog) The poll will close at 5pm EST on Monday Jan 4th as that is the day we are going to get her x-ray done. She is due on Wednesday!

I will soon have the webcam up and running once again so people can watch the whelp progress along with us. I'll post the link to the webcam once that is live.

We're having a fun time ushering in the New Year with our visitors, hope that everyone else is enjoying theirs as well!
